Smiles and Soap Bubbles

The students in RadAcad’s middle school science class took on a bubbly challenge this week: to create the largest possible soap bubble. The twist? They weren’t given the bubble recipe. Instead, they had to use what they knew about the scientific method, temperature, and the properties of water and soap to design their own bubble solutions. Then it was on to the experiments! Each trial required strategic thinking about the best way to position the straws, how wet to keep their work surfaces, and how to maximize airflow—all without causing the bubbles to pop. There were plenty of smiles to match the plenty of soap bubbles!
